Mei-June Liao is an artist from Prescott Valley, Arizona. She began painting with pastel in 2009 and learned quickly to master the technique. Her main interest is nature and landscape. In addition to pastel painting, Mei-June also does oil painting and Chinese brush painting.
Mei-June came to US from Taiwan in 1975, studied biological science at Yale University and received a PhD in biochemistry. She then went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology for postdoctoral training and subsequently worked in the biopharmaceutical industry in New Jersey for 25 years. After retiring in 2008, she discovered her interest in art when visiting a local Chinese painting club with a friend. She studied traditional Chinese watercolor brush paintings in NJ for a year. In August 2009, she and her family moved to Prescott Valley, AZ and started her western art training by taking workshops and private lessons. In her very short art career, she has won many top prizes in juried art shows and sold paintings in art galleries. Mei-June is a member of Mountain Artists Guild, Prescott Valley Art Guild, and Arizona Pastel Artists Association.
